The Columbus Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Neshoba Central 77-34. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Columbus in their matchups with Neshoba Central: they've now lost four in a row.
Neshoba Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zharia Leflore, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Erica Lyons, who scored 12 points.
Columbus bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Neshoba Central, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ridgeland at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Neshoba Central will finish 2023 at home by hosting Florence at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Florence is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
