Delta has gone a perfect 4-0 against Panguitch recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Rabbits will take on the Bobcats at 3:30 p.m. Delta is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Delta took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Parowan, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rabbits skirted past the Rams 8-7. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Rabbits as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Fallon Johnson was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one double. Rachel Bryan was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Delta hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Panguitch hadn't done well against Kanab recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Cowboys. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Brooklyn Harland made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lillee Torgerson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jaylee Litteral, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Delta's record is now 11-15. As for Panguitch, their record now sits at 11-8.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Delta hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Panguitch struggles in that department as they've averaged .476. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Delta's way against Panguitch in their previous meeting back in May of 2021, as Delta made off with a 17-7 victory. Will the Rabbits repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
