The Valley Union Blue Devils will square off against the Mayer Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley Union knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Mayer likes a good challenge.
Valley Union's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Fort Thomas 66-0. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Apaches recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Valley Union got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Yahir Luna out in front who rushed for 104 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. Luna also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Blue Devils are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Myles Richardson was another key rusher, rushing for 88 yards and two touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Valley Union was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 413 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 343 rushing yards in five consecutive games.
Valley Union didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Michael Durazo and Zion Moore. Moore got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Mayer faced Joseph City in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Friday. Mayer took a 40-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Joseph City. Mayer has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Valley Union will need to focus on slowing down Jonny Bryce, one of several Mayer players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 108 yards and a pair of TDs, and also picked up 42 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Kyle Dorman, who gained 65 total yards.
Valley Union's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Mayer, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
