Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Southeast

Southeast had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 76-54 margin over the Braden River Pirates. With the Seminoles ahead 35-14 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Southeast's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamarri Bivens, who went 9 for 14 on his way to 23 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Bivens' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Byrd, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, ten boards, and ten blocks.

Bivens wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Southeast was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Southeast is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.9 points per game. As for Braden River, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Southeast will welcome Lakewood Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Braden River, they will venture away from home to challenge Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Braden River is facing Palmetto at the right time seeing as Palmetto is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
