The Morrill Lions can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They breezed by Gordon-Rushville at home to the tune of 50-18. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-5.
Leading Morrill to victory were Wyler Fisher and Pittman Ashwin. Fisher scored 16 points, while Ashwin scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Fisher continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Green, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Morrill has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Gordon-Rushville, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-14.
Morrill won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sioux County at 3:30 p.m. on January 27th. Sioux County is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Gordon-Rushville, they will face off against Mitchell at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mitchell presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Gordon-Rushville in Nebraska (Mitchell is ranked 114th, while Gordon-Rushville is ranked 270th).
