The Lumberton Pirates are taking a road trip to square off against the Gray's Creek Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lumberton has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lumberton lost 13-1 to South View on Friday. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lumberton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaelyn Hammond, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Hammond is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gray's Creek). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Douglas Byrd a 21-0 shutout on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Bears sure are getting used to it with their 11th in a row.
Addison Green made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Green was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, August Kebort was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last ten contests. Another player making a difference was Amariya Green, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Gray's Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Gray's Creek pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.9 runs over those games. As for Lumberton, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
Lumberton might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Gray's Creek in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
