The Rockville Rams''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Gaithersburg, falling 48-21. While losing is never fun, Rockville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Gaithersburg is ranked 47th).
Rockville's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Joshua Burnette Jr., who picked up 83 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Nicky Holloway who threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns.
Rockville's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-3 Magruder (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for Gaithersburg, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rockville will take on Northwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northwood comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Gaithersburg, they will be playing at home against Richard Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
