The Tri-Cities Bulldogs's game last Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 55-46 victory over Banneker. Given Tri-Cities' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Banneker is ranked 376th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tri-Cities was led to victory by Paris Shelton and Alyssia Bandele. Shelton scored 22 points, while Bandele scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Shelton has scored at least a third of Tri-Cities' points. Hannah Morris was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks.
Tri-Cities now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Banneker, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri-Cities will square off against Chapel Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Banneker, they will head out on the road to square off against Midtown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Midtown knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Banneker likes a good challenge.
