In what's become a running theme this season, the Pinnacle Pioneers gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mountain Ridge 74-27 at home. The win was familiar territory for Pinnacle who now have five in a row.
Pinnacle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Heather Stedman led the charge by scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Stedman hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Norah Moo was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 20 rebounds.
Mountain Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaliyahna Baldwin, who scored five points. Another player making a difference was Gigi Santiago, who scored five points.
Mountain Ridge struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Pinnacle racked up 19 assists.
Pinnacle has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Mountain Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
Pinnacle will challenge Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Pinnacle is ranked 15th). As for Mountain Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Boulder Creek at 7:00 p.m. Boulder Creek is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
