The DeMatha Stags will venture away from home to  face off against the Gonzaga Eagles  at 1:00  p.m.  on Sunday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication,  the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
DeMatha is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another  one of Maryland's top teams: Springdale Prep, who was ranked 16th  at the time (DeMatha was ranked second). DeMatha blew past Springdale Prep 77-57 on Friday. The Stags have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven  contests by 20  points or more this season.

 DeMatha got their  win on the backs of several key players, but it was  Jacob Wallace out in front who  went 6 for 8  en route to 17 points along with five  assists and five  steals. Those five  steals gave  Wallace a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Ashton (Ace) Meeks, who  went 8 of 19  on his way to 23  points.
 Meanwhile, Gonzaga entered their tilt with St. John's on Friday with six consecutive wins  but they'll enter their next game with seven. They walked away with  a   69-59  victory over the Cadets.
 DeMatha's win was  their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 14-4. As for Gonzaga, their victory bumped their record up to 18-2.
 DeMatha couldn't quite finish off Gonzaga when the teams last played  back in February of 2024 and fell  53-50. Can DeMatha avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
