Acalanes has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Las Lomas Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Acalanes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Acalanes suffered a tough 69-49 loss at the hands of Dougherty Valley. Acalanes was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.
Despite their defeat, Acalanes saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Gavin Dodge, who scored 17 points, was perhaps the best of all. Dodge scored a full 34.7% of Acalanes' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Malm, who scored 8 points.
Meanwhile, Las Lomas took their matchup at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 69-41 win over McClymonds. With that victory, Las Lomas brought their scoring average up to 57.5 points per game.
Las Lomas relied on the efforts of Julian Vaucher, who scored 21 points along with 5 steals, and Xayne Mojadiddi, who went 8 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 1 assists. That makes it two consecutive games in which Vaucher has scored at least 25% of Las Lomas' points. Colin Pangilinan was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds.
The losses dropped Acalanes to 3-4 and Dougherty Valley to 4-3.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Acalanes and Las Lomas are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Acalanes hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 54.1 points per game. However, it's not like Las Lomas struggles in that department as they've been even better at 57.5 per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run up the score up higher Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
Acalanes came up short against Las Lomas when the teams last played back in February, falling 74-62. Thankfully for Acalanes, Jake Davis (who scored 31 points along with 5 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
