The Paso Robles Bearcats''s game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Arroyo Grande. While losing is never fun, Paso Robles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 567th, while Arroyo Grande is ranked 157th).
Paso Robles' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Tre Clark, who picked up 109 receiving yards and a touchdown. Clark's longest reception was for an incredible 95 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Bowman, who rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Arroyo Grande's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Junior Herlihy, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. Copeland Hartford got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Paso Robles' loss was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 2-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.6 points per game. As for Arroyo Grande, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Paso Robles does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Arroyo Grande will head out on the road to face off against Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
