Suburban - West recap October 8, 2013
Mehlville moved up to 112 from 148 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Suburban - West. The Panthers were able to move up by besting Parkway South 40-34.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Lafayette beat Lindbergh 23-21. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Lancers.
The Flyers' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chuck Houska threw for 226 and 2 touchdowns and Ben Kraft had 137 yards receiving. On the ground Carl Lovely contributed 55 yards. Garrett Krueger helped Lindbergh's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 60 yards.
He went 9-26 with 2 interceptions.
Lovely was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 55 yards on 9 carries as Lindbergh fell to Lafayette. Jay DuPree also contributed to the rushing game with 44 yards on the ground.
Lindbergh's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Flyers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Houska has thrown for 1,567 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Krueger has 27 catches for 717 yards.
A big matchup in Suburban - West this week will be when Tom Beauchamp's team takes on Eureka. The Flyers are currently in seventh, while the Wildcats are in second.
Boyd Manne's team and Lindbergh played the closest game in the league this week, with Boyd Manne's team eventually emerging with a 23-21 victory.
