The Wilson Lakemen will head out on the road to square off against the Barker Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wilson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Wilson earned a 10-7 win over Akron. The Lakemen haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Riley Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Rowan Simpson and Abbie Faery did most of the damage at the plate: Simpson got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Faery got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Simpson has posted since back in May of 2024. Aleena Adamczyk was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Barker owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Newfane 2-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Not much got past Peyton Bradley, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Newfane off the board. Bradley has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
Wilson's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Barker, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wilson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Barker struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wilson suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Barker when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Lakemen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
