Legion Collegiate Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Carmel Christian on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 11-10.
Legion Collegiate Academy got a good showing from Ben Lee, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Lee a new career-low.
At the plate, Andres Lopez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Justin Iannetto was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Even though they lost, Legion Collegiate Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Everything went their way against Calvary Day School on Friday as Wesleyan Christian Academy made off with a 13-6 win. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won eight in a row.
Cole Bowman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. He has become a key player for Wesleyan Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Nick Papciak, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Legion Collegiate Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Legion Collegiate Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like Wesleyan Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
