The First Baptist Academy Eagles will challenge the Oak Ridge Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. First Baptist Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Grace Christian Academy hit First Baptist Academy with a five-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell 8-4 to the Rams. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Addison Harbison made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Jennings, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oak Ridge). Everything went their way against Midway on Monday as they made off with an 18-1 win. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Anslee Douglas was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bay Hensley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Oak Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 9-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
First Baptist Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Oak Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. First Baptist Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Oak Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .334. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
First Baptist Academy beat Oak Ridge 11-6 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
