Baseball Recap: East Union Extends Winning Streak to Six

East Union came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Hamilton Lions as they made off with a 9-3 victory. The Urchins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Ben Basil spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Drew Hollimon and Tristian Baldwyn did most of the damage at the plate: Hollimon scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Baldwyn scored a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, Baldwyn posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Heath Wilkinson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

East Union's record is now 17-3. As for Hamilton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Union will challenge Tupelo at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. East Union is facing Tupelo at the right time seeing as Tupelo is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Hamilton, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Hamilton Lions take on Belmont Cardinals at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
