Softball Recap: Live Oak Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Las Plumas, Live Oak was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Orland Trojans 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Aleena Ramirez was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyric Wiggins, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Live Oak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orland only posted an OBP of .261.

Live Oak's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10. As for Orland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Live Oak will square off against Gridley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 13 runs per game this season. As for Orland, they will challenge Oroville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
