Baseball Recap: Burley Wins High-Profile Contest Against Marsh Valley

Burley faced Marsh Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Bobcats put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 13-5 win. Considering the Bobcats have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Braxton Warr and Ike Redder were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Warr tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Redder tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Warr has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Warr scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Redder scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Burley got a massive performance out of Jake Redder, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Redder is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mack Haynes, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Burley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Burley is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Marsh Valley, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-2.

Coming up, Burley is taking a road trip to take on Mountain Home at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Marsh Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against American Falls at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles are facing the Beavers at the right time seeing as the Beavers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
