After flying high against the Herscher Tigers last Thursday, the Reed-Custer Comets came back down to earth. Reed-Custer received a tough blow on Monday as they fell 43-24 to Peotone. Reed-Custer has struggled against Peotone recently, as their game on Monday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Reed-Custer's loss came despite strong showings from Kaylee Tribble and Alyssa Wollenzien. Tribble scored six points along with five rebounds, while Wollenzien scored six points.
Reed-Custer's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Peotone, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Reed-Custer will challenge Coal City at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Coal City presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Reed-Custer in Illinois (Coal City is ranked 154th, while Reed-Custer is ranked 430th). As for Peotone, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Clifton Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Clifton Central is on a three-game streak of home wins, Peotone a 12-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
