After losing to the Natchez Bulldogs the last time they met, the Brookhaven Panthers decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Brookhaven came out on top against Natchez by a score of 52-41 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Brookhaven.
Brookhaven can attribute much of their success to Kordell Collins, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Collins scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jamarius Malone, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Brookhaven is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Natchez, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-7.
Brookhaven will head out on the road to face off against Holmes County Central at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Holmes County Central: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Brookhaven has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. Natchez will take on North Pike at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Pike will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 224th, while Natchez is ranked 92nd).
