Shafter is 8-2 against the Thunderbirds since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Shafter Generals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Kennedy Thunderbirds at 6:30 p.m. Shafter is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
Shafter pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 65-56 to Delano. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Shafter in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Kennedy took a serious blow against the Cougars on Thursday, falling 81-52. While losing is never fun, Kennedy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1124th, while the Cougars are ranked 557th).
Shafter has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Kennedy, they dropped their record down to 7-19 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Shafter was able to grind out a solid win over the Thunderbirds in their previous matchup back in January, winning 56-47. Will Shafter repeat their success, or do the Thunderbirds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
