There's no place like home for the Churchill Chargers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They strolled past Reagan with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 49-32. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Churchill also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Churchill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Fernandez led the charge by scoring ten points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Rakiya Nelson, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Reagan lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sahara Green, who scored six points along with three steals. Joana Lopez was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
Churchill is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. As for Reagan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-12.
Churchill will be playing at home against Marshall at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marshall will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while Churchill is ranked 174th). As for Reagan, they will head out on the road to take on SA Roosevelt at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. SA Roosevelt has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 18.
