The Coral Reef Barracudas will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Southwest Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Southwest took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Coral Reef, who comes in off a win.
Even though Coral Reef has not done well against Braddock recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Coral Reef secured a 70-64 W over Braddock. The victory was all the more spectacular given Coral Reef's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 428th, while Braddock is ranked 201st).
Coral Reef's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nathaniel Wesley led the charge by scoring 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wesley has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Santos, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, Southwest's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Coral Park by a score of 38-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Southwest has scored all season.
Coral Reef's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-11. As for Southwest, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Everything went Coral Reef's way against Southwest in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as Coral Reef made off with a 66-44 win. Does Coral Reef have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southwest turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
