The Fleming Island Golden Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Nease Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fleming Island will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Fleming Island got the win against Clay by a conclusive 14-1. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.
Fleming Island got a great performance from Mallory Blackwell as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Blackwell has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Anisten Kurlander was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Massey, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.
Fleming Island hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Nease never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Atlantic Coast. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Stingrays recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
The result came thanks to Sydney Davis's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Miranda Harmon, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Isabel Theiner also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Fleming Island pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Nease, their record is now 8-11.
Fleming Island came out on top in a nail-biter against Nease in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
