Coquille had to travel to play their first game of the season, and the final result was worth the trip. They snuck past Oakland with a 12-6 win.
Coquille got off to a sluggish start, posting 0 total points in the first half. That left them at a 0-6 disadvantage. In the second half, however, Coquille's defense made a stand and allowed a meager 0 points. The victory got they out to a 1-0 start for the season. The loss dropped Oakland's record to 0-1-1.
Coquille will be defending their home turf for the first time next week when they go up against Glide at 7:00 PM. As for Oakland, they will face off against Reedsport.
