The Springstead Eagles lost against the Clearwater Tornadoes back in December of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Springstead took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tornadoes. That's two games in a row now that Springstead has lost by exactly four points.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nick Cordero, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Austin Nicholson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Clearwater found their leader in underclassman Geridan Jones, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristopher Foote, who scored seven points.
This is the second loss in a row for Springstead and nudges their season record down to 13-9. As for Clearwater, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springstead won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Leopards at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Hernando will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 542nd, while the Eagles are ranked 254th). As for Clearwater, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Hurricanes at 7:45 p.m.
