Basketball Game Preview: Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders vs. Holly Hill Academy Raiders

Jefferson Davis Academy is 1-9 against Holly Hill Academy since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The two teams will round out the year against one another at at 11:00 a.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Jefferson Davis Academy is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-41 heartbreaker at the hands of Florence Christian.

Nasir Void put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last 13 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colson Loadholt, who posted 14 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Holly Hill Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They fell to Faith Christian 74-70. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Jefferson Davis Academy will have to contain Jody Gillam as he made an impact in Holly Hill Academy's last game. He went 15 of 30 on his way to 40 points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks. That was a full 57.1% of Holly Hill Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Siau, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points.

Jefferson Davis Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Holly Hill Academy, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
