The Richwood Lumberjacks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 11th straight defeat. They suffered a rough 66-40 defeat at the hands of Highland. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Richwood came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 123rd in West Virginia, while Highland is ranked 371st in Virginia).
Richwood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grant Russell, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Griffith, who scored 12 points.
Richwood dropped their record down to 1-16 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Highland, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season.
Richwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 59-54 defeat vs. Man on the 9th. Highland has also already played their next match, a 83-60 loss against Narrows on the 9th.
