The Calvert Hall Cardinals pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. While losing is never fun, Calvert Hall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Our Lady of Mount Carmel is ranked 13th).
Despite the loss, Calvert Hall still got an impressive performance from Brendan Johnson, who scored 31 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Johnson is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Khairy Garrison was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Calvert Hall has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-5.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Archbishop Spalding the next time they take the court. Calvert Hall will host Archbishop Spalding at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Our Lady of Mount Carmel will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
