The McArthur Mustangs will face off against the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. McArthur will be strutting in after a victory while St. Thomas Aquinas will be coming in after a loss.
Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, McArthur turned things around against Everglades on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Gators.
Eliecer Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Derek Rodriguez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Medina, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, St. Thomas Aquinas faced West Broward in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Raiders came up short against the Bobcats, falling 14-4. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Raiders, who until this matchup were averaging 3.71 runs allowed.
Brady Buxbaum and Jake Carruthers did some serious damage despite the final result: Buxbaum went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Carruthers went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Nico Sabatino, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
McArthur's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they moved to 17-4 with that loss, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.
