The Continental Pirates are taking a road trip to take on the Columbus Grove Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Continental has three straight wins, Columbus Grove has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Continental made easy work of Ottoville and carried off a 9-2 victory. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Gracie Homier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Maeci Dockery was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Raegen Clemens also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, Columbus Grove didn't have quite enough to beat Allen East on Monday and fell 19-18. Even if the Bulldogs couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Zoey Patchet and Breanna Hoffman did some serious damage despite the final result: Patchet got on base in four of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Hoffman scored five runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Becca Hoover was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
Continental's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Columbus Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Columbus Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Continental has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Columbus Grove, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will Continental keep running through batters, or will the Bulldogs buck the trend?
Continental was able to grind out a solid win over Columbus Grove when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 4-1. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
