Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Charleston Tigers walked away with it. They blew past the Yellowjackets 40-14. The result was nothing new for Charleston, who have now won nine games by 26 points or more so far this season.
Charleston got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Deondre Riley out in front who picked up 159 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Marcus Flowers jr was another key contributor, rushing for 129 yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Union lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Ky'yon Harris. Despite the final result, he rushed for 203 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Harris is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last six games he's played.
The win (which was Charleston's eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.8 points per game. As for Union, their loss dropped their record down to 12-2.
Charleston is on the road again on Friday and play against Heidelberg at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Heidelberg: 15.3, Charleston: 17.2) so any points scored will be well earned. Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
