Alivia Bizzarri made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. In other batting news, Emily Gustkey was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Huntingdon hadn't done well against Hollidaysburg recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bearcats put the hurt on the Golden Tigers with a sharp 11-1 win.
Alivia Nicklow spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Izzy Kazmarski, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Foster, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Huntingdon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.4.
Huntingdon is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Philipsburg-Osceola, their record now sits at 9-5.
Huntingdon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Philipsburg-Osceola has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .444. It's a different story for Huntingdon, though, as they've only averaged .329. Will they be able to contain Philipsburg-Osceola's hitters?
Philipsburg-Osceola couldn't quite finish off Huntingdon when the teams last played back in March and fell 2-0. Can the Mountaineers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
