Tri-County recap Oct. 23, 2012
Woodland's Trevor Young recorded the longest rushing play in Tri-County this season in his game against Yuba City last week. Young's team lost to the Honkers as he sprinted for 90 yards on the play and finished with 100 in all.
River Valley moved up to 421 from 454 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Falcons were able to make move up by losing to Inderkum 21-0.
Woodland's dynamic duo of Young and Connor Wright proved tough for Yuba City to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Young threw for 188 yards and two touchdowns and Wright had 59 yards receiving. Brandon Flores helped Woodland's passing attack out by catching four balls for 49 yards.
Nate Van Dusen was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 114 yards as John Ithuburn's team lost to John Ithuburn's team. Teammate Alex Inskeep added to the ground attack by rushing for 82 yards.
Devin Jones made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Wolves fell to the Honkers. The junior grabbed one interception.
Thanks to the talents of Taylor Elkins and Van Dusen Yuba City has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Elkins leads the league in passing with 850 yards, while Van Dusen has rushed for 1031 yards this season. River Valley's Timothy (TJ) Dove leads the league in receiving yards with 354 on 14 catches.
A big matchup in Tri-County this week will be when Pioneer takes on the Tigers. The Patriots are in fourth place, while Inderkum is in second place.
Pioneer took down Natomas 41-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
