The Beatrice Orangemen will square off against the Malcolm Clippers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Beatrice is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Beatrice took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Platte Valley as they made off with a 16-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Orangemen considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Kale Koch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Beatrice is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-6 otherwise. Koch was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 11 games.

In other batting news, Isaac DeBoer was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nolan Schmale, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Beatrice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Malcolm waltzed into their contest on Monday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They came out on top against the Blue Devils by a score of 8-3.
Malcolm got a big performance out of Cole Tiedeman, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Garrett England was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Malcolm's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Beatrice, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Beatrice has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Malcolm struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
