The Jamestown Eagles will face off against the Hampton Crabbers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Jamestown is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Denbigh. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Jamestown got a great performance from Grant Nelson as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nat Dafashy, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Clawson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Hampton hadn't done well against Warwick recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Friday. The Crabbers walked away with a 4-1 win over the Raiders.
Toby Weymouth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, CJ Williams was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
Hampton pushed their record up to 19-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Jamestown, their record is now 9-11.
Everything went Jamestown's way against Hampton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Jamestown made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Crabbers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
