The Kountze Lions lost against the New Waverly Bulldogs back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Kountze fell 20-7 to New Waverly. Kountze has not had much luck with New Waverly recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Camden Johnson threw for 89 yards on ten of 15 attempts. Kade Bumstead was his top target, picking up 30 receiving yards.
Kountze has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for New Waverly, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-6.
Kountze will head out on the road to face off against Warren at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Warren is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for New Waverly, they will be playing at home against Newton on Friday. Newton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully New Waverly likes a good challenge.
