Roncalli's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Elliot Leffler, who posted 16 points and seven rebounds, and Brennah Cerny, who put up nine points and three steals. Cerny is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Rosko, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Columbus North beat Bloomington North 56-47 on Friday.
Roncalli better focus on containing Kaylie Harmon and Ava Wilson as the pair were huge in Columbus North's win. Harmon went 6 of 9 on her way to 18 points, while Wilson went 7 for 14 en route to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Kenna Conrad, who earned five points in addition to nine boards and four steals.
Columbus North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.
Roncalli is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Columbus North, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Roncalli has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Columbus North struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Roncalli took their victory against Columbus North in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 66-40.
