Last Friday, Omaha Westside faced Creighton Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Omaha Westside secured a 74-70 W over Creighton Prep.
Omaha Westside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rickey Loftin, who shot 5-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Loftin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kevin Stubblefield, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Millard South scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Omaha Northwest 98-75. The win was a breath of fresh air for Millard South as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Millard South to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaac Jensen, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Carter Margheim was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Omaha Westside has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Millard South, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
Friday's game is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Omaha Westside have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Millard South struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Omaha Westside strolled past Millard South in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 66-51. Will Omaha Westside repeat their success, or does Millard South have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
