Bingham is 1-0 against Syracuse since November of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on October 27th. Last Friday, Bingham faced Mountain Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bingham walked away with a 37-27 victory over Mountain Ridge. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Bingham's three-point performance the game before.
Bingham's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chase Swensen led the charge by rushing for 176 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Swensen was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Triston Brimhall also helped out as he racked up 114 rushing yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Mountain Ridge to a paltry 26 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Bingham's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Will Van Cott and his three sacks.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 45 points the game before, Syracuse were a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They took a 22-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Davis.
Syracuse's defeat came about despite a quality game from D?angelo Mayes, who picked up 113 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Bingham has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Syracuse, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of October 27th' contest: Bingham has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 208.5 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Syracuse, though, as they've been averaging only 86.1 per game. How will Syracuse fare against such a dominant running game?
