Mountain Vista scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Regis Jesuit, 28-21. At the time, the Raiders were ranked 18th in the state, while the Golden Eagles were 45th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Regis Jesuit, who took down 18th ranked Regis Jesuit, 28-21. Ryan Rubley threw for 186 yards and one touchdown and ran for one yards in the win.
Trey Smith was the most productive running back in 5A Continental this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 448 yards as Douglas County beat Mark Nolan's team. Teammate Tyler Ketron added to the ground attack by rushing for 36 yards.
Palumbo was the best wideout in the league this week as Ric Cash's team bested the Raiders. Palumbo tallied five receptions for 118 yards. Christopher Hill helped Mountain Vista's passing attack out by catching two balls for 89 yards.
Hayden Jones made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Huskies defeated Highlands Ranch. The defensive back pulled down one interception.
Chaparral's Max Kuhns and Mitchell Parsons have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Kuhns has thrown for 1974 yards this season, while Parsons, a 6-foot-5 receiver, has 41 catches for 702 yards. Smith from Douglas County leads the league in rushing with 1527 yards.
The marquee game in 5A Continental this week will be the clash between Jeff Ketron's team and the Wolverines. The Huskies enters the contest ranked 25th in the state, while Chaparral ranks third.
Entering into this week's contest against Douglas County, Kuhns is short just 26 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
The Huskies' Smith recorded the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against the Falcons last week.
