The Monroe Academy Volunteers can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They blew past Bessemer Academy 55-24 on the road. Monroe Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Merritt Morris and Olivia Brackner certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Morris scored seven points along with ten rebounds, while Brackner scored six points along with two steals.
Monroe Academy's win bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Bessemer Academy, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-9.
Monroe Academy will head out on the road to face off against Morgan Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bessemer Academy, they will be playing at home against Clarke Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clarke Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bessemer Academy in Alabama (Clarke Prep is ranked 138th, while Bessemer Academy is ranked 376th).
