The Owen Warhorses posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They skirted past NCSSM: Morganton 63-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Owen found their leader in underclassman Asante Martin, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Another player making a difference was Jack Wesley Burk, who scored 13 points along with two blocks.
Despite the loss, NCSSM: Morganton still got an impressive performance from Lawson Taylor, who scored 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Centurion Tzendzalian, who scored ten points.
The win makes it two in a row for Owen and bumps their season record up to 3-9. As for NCSSM: Morganton, they bumped their record down to 4-5 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Owen will face off against Avery County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Avery County is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for NCSSM: Morganton, they will head out on the road to take on Draughn at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Draughn is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
