Cheverus extended the longest winning streak in A Southern Maine this week by beating Deering, 49-0. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Stags.
Kennebunk was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after falling to Thornton Academy. The Rams came in at 20 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
Scarborough's Dillon Russo and Greg Viola have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Russo has thrown for 1295 yards this season, while Viola, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 25 catches for 526 yards. Ken Sweet from the Rams leads the league in rushing with 1171 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Portland and Cheverus. The Bulldogs comes into the matchup ranked sixth in the state, while the Stags ranks first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Portland takes on Cheverus. The Bulldogs have allowed 135 points this season, while the Stags have given up 48.
