Poth is 8-2 against Karnes City since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Pirates will square off against the Badgers at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Poth has three straight wins, Karnes City has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Poth is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Nixon-Smiley with a sharp 18-3 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Pirates have won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Poth let Paige Gilden and Bella Serna run wild. Gilden went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Serna went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Gilden a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Kroll, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Poth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Karnes City didn't have quite enough to beat Stockdale on Tuesday and fell 13-12.
Mackenzie Clark was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5. Makenna Salyer-Norman was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Karnes City's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Poth, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Poth hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. However, it's not like Karnes City struggles in that department as they've averaged .413. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Poth's way against Karnes City in their previous matchup back in March, as Poth made off with a 16-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
