Football Recap: Fairfield Piles Up the Points Against Armijo

Fairfield won the last time they faced Armijo and things went their way on Friday too. The Falcons simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Royals 40-13. Considering the Falcons have won four games by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Imari Carter was his usual excellent self, rushing for 132 yards and a pair of scores. He has become a key player for Fairfield: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise.

Fairfield didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Armijo to a completion percentage of just 46.7%. The team can thank D'Juan Branner for the heroic effort on defense: he. Fairfield wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 60%.

Fairfield didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Santiago Arciga, Izel Jackson, and Angel Ramirez picked up one apiece. With that strong performance, Ramirez is now averaging an impressive 5.1 total tackles per game. Arciga got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Armijo still got an impressive performance from Tayjon Harrell (Tj), who picked up 60 receiving yards and one TD.

Fairfield is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.0 points on average over those games. As for Armijo, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-6 record.

Fairfield will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Twelve Bridges at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. The Falcons will need to watch out since the Raging Rhinos have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. Armijo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
