The Avon Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Westlake Demons at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Avon put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. They walked away with a 12-7 win over Avon Lake. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Jordyn Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Jocelin Ochs was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Katie Heilmann also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Westlake made easy work of Lakewood on Thursday and carried off a 22-4 win. The Demons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by eight runs or more this season.
Marissa Horvath was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, eight RBI, and three runs. Riley Knapp was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.
Westlake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Avon's record is now 8-11. As for Westlake, their record now sits at 11-4.
Westlake's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Avon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Westlake, though, as they've been averaging only 2.3 strikeouts. Will Avon keep running through batters, or will the Demons buck the trend?
Everything went Avon's way against Westlake in their previous meeting back in April of 2019, as Avon made off with a 15-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
