The Mathis Pirates are on the road again on Tuesday and play against the San Diego Vaqueros at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Mathis ended up a good deal behind Annapolis Christian Academy and lost 63-47. Mathis has not had much luck with Annapolis Christian Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, San Diego pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 71-59 to Miller. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (57), San Diego still had to take the loss.
San Diego's loss came about despite a quality game from Estevan Barrientes, who scored 24 points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Casas, who scored nine points.
Mathis' defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for San Diego, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-2.
Mathis came up short against San Diego in their previous matchup on December 1st, falling 42-29. Can Mathis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
