Even though the Green Tech Eagles scored an imposing 65 points on Thursday, the Cardinal Hayes Cardinals still came out on top. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Cardinal Hayes made off with a 66-65 victory over Green Tech. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cardinal Hayes.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Haisi Mayben, who scored 15 points along with six assists and three steals. The matchup was Mayben's third in a row with at least ten points. Indavier Barnes was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Cardinal Hayes is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. As for Green Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Cardinal Hayes will head out on the road to face off against Christ the King at 6:15 p.m. on January 19th. As for Green Tech, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against University Prep at 2:30 p.m. University Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Green Tech likes a good challenge.
